Wedding Wednesday?

I’m definitely a sucker for alliteration and rhyming. With Sunday Runday and Makeup Monday, I need something mid-week.

The wedding is 6 months away and somehow 6 months feels like crunch time?  Looking back, I would have had a shorter engagement.  Not because I needed to get married quicker, but because I need this endless to do list out of my head quicker.  Here’s the status so far:

  • Date
  • Venue
    • Cork Wine & Tapas restaurant
  • Dress
  • Shoes
  • Bridesmaids dresses = 4 out of 6
    • My maids are wearing all different dresses in neutral colors: white, ivory, champagne, grey.  It’s shaping up to be really pretty.  The maid of honor is wearing white, boat neck, fit and flare, covered in lace.  A junior bridesmaid is wearing a boat neck fit and flare in champagne silk.  There’s a grey, cap sleeve with lace overlay.  And an ivory sweetheart fit and flare with lace cap sleeve overlay.  I need one more grey dress to balance the one, and the last girl can wear whatever she wants.
  • Bridesmaids Jewelry and Accessories
    • I bought them bracelets and earrings (I didn’t want to do necklaces, since they all have different necklines) and these beautiful hair comb accessories that are covered in flowers of all different colors.  I’m totally obsessed with them.
  • Flowers
    • I’m doing fake flowers for the bouquets, and I’ve bought them all!  I’ll do a post later on how I make them.20160305_130136.jpg
  • Officiant
  • DJ
  • Photographer
  • Hair and makeup

Still left to do are a million and one things.  My jewelry. Dress fitting. Ceremony script. Vows. Wedding license. Setting up meetings with all the vendors to finalize things. Wedding bands.  Groomsmen suits. Groomsmen gifts.  Centerpieces. Favors. 1st dance, entrance, mom/son, dad/daughter songs.  Dance lessons. Hair and makeup trial.  Bachelorette and Bachelor parties.  Invitations.  Seating Charts.  Decorative signs.  Honeymoon. Nail appointments.  Someone to help with centerpieces, cards, gifts, decorations.

I feel like I’ve used this gif before…that’s probably not a good sign. Haha.

Makeup Monday: Money Spending Frenzy

This happens every few months or so. I drop a couple hundred dollars on things I don’t need. $50 of those dollars went to Sephora because they had a 5 free samples promo.  I’ve already tried all of the free samples, so those reviews are below, but first here’s what I actually spent money on.

  • Too Faced Sugar Pop Eye Palette ($36) – I have way too many neutral eyeshadow palettes and this looked like a good antidote.  Plus, it comes with a “glamour guide tutorial.”
  • Nails Inc. in London Court ($14) – Too much to spend on a nailpolish?  Absolutely.  Exactly enough to bring me up to free shipping?  You betcha!  It’s the perfect, opaque, pale pink/white color.

  • |★★★★☆| Caudalie Premiere Cru the Eye Cream ($99) – Eye cream.  Good.  Nothing worth $99 though.
  • |★★★☆☆| Clinique Cleanser, Exfoliant, and Lotion ($26) – Very mild 3 piece cleansing routine.  Mild, but drying.  I needed the lotion by the end.
  • |★★★☆☆| bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara ($19) – Somehow, something called both bare minerals AND domination seems a little at odds.  Lengthening, but not thickening.
  • |★★★★★| Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask ($26) – LOVE THIS!  A mask that’s also a lipstick.  I’m wearing the Champagne color below and it’s gorgeous.
  • |★★☆☆☆| Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation ($39) – Extremely liquidy, very sheer coverage.  Not my color or my cup of tea.  Though I will admit, non-matte foundations photograph better as evidenced below.

I am actually wearing all of the samples in this picture.

I’ll review my purchases soon.  As well as the Sephora PLAY! box I just got, which I forgot I was getting, and probably rendered this shopping spree unnecessary…oops.

Sunday Runday 3/27

  • Yoga class at Assembly Sports Club X
  • 3 runs X
    • 2 runs, 1 blister, 6.25 miles
  • Track calories daily (Goal = 1350 per day) ✓ / X
    • Tracked every day.  Daily average = 1560.  Slightly higher than last week’s average.
  • Deck of Cards Workout
  • Weight = 137 lbs … Two words: Easter. Candy.
  • Waist = 34.5 inches

  • Monday 3/21 – Ankle PT + Foam Roll
  • Tuesday 3/22 – 3.1 mile run [10:22 pace]
  • Wednesday 3/23 – Deck of Cards 5×3 – This was a good, quick way to do a workout at 6am without thinking.  Though I need to pick more cards next time – this felt too easy.20160323_060223.jpg
  • Thursday 3/24 – 3.1 mile run [11:30 ish pace] – So, I may be pushing myself a little too hard too fast.  2 miles into what was supposed to be 3.3 miles, it felt like there were shards of glass cutting into my plantar.  I was wearing my ugly Brooks motion control shoes because my feet had been sore, and I thought they would help correct that.  I ended up pausing my run for awhile to walk, turning it back on and alternating between sprinting and walking the rest of the way back, worrying that plantar fasciitis was back again with a vengeance.  It actually looks like it’s just a blister, which is new for me.  I have no idea what to do with a blister.  Off to google.
  • Friday 3/25 – Deck of Cards Workout 26×1 – I did half the deck!  I was supposed to run today, but I figured I’d let the blister on my foot heal.  Here’s what I had to do (somehow, out of 26 cards, I managed to avoid burpees!).
    • Hips, Butt, Legs: 11 fire hydrants, 20 donkey kicks, 11 lateral lunges, 12 forward lunges, 34 squats, 27 single leg squats (I still can’t do these, so they were just uneven squats)
    • Arms: 10 tricep dips, 5 push ups, 5 pull ups
    • Abs: 6 30 second planks, 5 spider planks, 32 sit ups, 4 oblique sit ups, 51 russian twists

  • Run 3 times
  • Meet with Running Coach on Sunday
  • Do PT twice, including hip strength (I tend to skip that and just do my ankle stuff)
  • Yoga once
  • Track calories daily (Goal = 1350 per day)

Q. How many subscription services is too many?

A. You can never have enough!  I * only * have 6.

  1. Graze: $11.99 for 1 box of 8 snacks each month.  And they are seriously all SO DELICIOUS!  Here’s my reward code, if you want to sign up! DLLP3WF5P

    image of dark rocky road

My favorite so far = Dark Chocolate Rocky Road

  2. Stitchfix: $20 styling fee for 5 items every quarter.  Styling fee goes towards purchase of any items.  So, it’s really free.  I reviewed my first fix here.  That necklace has entered the daily rotation, I love it so much.
  3. Blue Apron: $70 for 3 meals to feed 2 people each.  This is a weekly service, but I only get it once every few months.  Reviews here and here.  Comment with an email address and I’ll send you free meals through the website.
  4. Ipsy: $10 per month for 5 or so sample beauty products chosen based on your wants and needs.  High/Low mix of brands, sometimes erring on the side of low.  Reviewed in half of my Makeup Mondays.
  5. PLAY! by Sephora: $10 per month for 5 or so deluxe samples from Sephora.  Good mix of brands; quality products.  Just started this one, and loved the first box.
  6. Barkbox: $19 per month for 12 months for themed dog treats and toys.  If you have a dog and you buy them toys and treats, this is awesome.  Each box is enough for 2 dogs.  We actually save all the new toys until we’re traveling, so she gets something special in the car.20160317_182129.jpg
