Sunday Runday 6/25

SUMMARY

  • Run
    • Week 9 Total = 16.8 miles
  • PT 4x
  • JUNE RESOLUTIONS: Go to sleep by 9pm on weeknights X
    • 1 night out of 5 — this one’s shaping up to be even worse than the “no drinking on work nights” goal
  • Yoga – 60 minutes

WORKOUTS

  • Monday 6/19 – Abs + Yoga + PT – starting off strong!
  • Tuesday 6/20 – nothing – I watched 4 episodes of The Fosters instead of doing anything.  I wonder how productive I’d be if I stopped watching TV, but that’s not a life I want to live. lol
  • Wednesday 6/21 – 4 miles @ 11:36 min/mi + Abs – I need to do more yoga…
  • Thursday 6/22 – PT
  • Friday 6/23 – 3.3 miles @ 11:37 min/mi + PT
  • Saturday 6/24 – nothing, again…oops
  • Sunday 6/25 – 9 miles @ 12:27 min/mi + PT + Yoga – Not the best run.  I missed one turn, making me go slightly off route and then my whole route outline disappeared from MapMyRun, so I spent FOREVER bringing up my routes on the web version to follow along and make sure I was going the right way.  And to think, I was almost excited that I missed a turn, because usually I’m stopping and looking at my phone so often just to take a break that it would be impossible for me to go off route.  ALSO, I MOTHERFUCKING DID ALL MY PT AND YOGA THIS WEEK!  That’s first in IDK how long.

GOALS

  • PT 4x
  • Yoga – 60 minutes
  • JUNE RESOLUTIONS: Go to sleep by 9pm on weeknights
  • Marathon training:
    • Week 9: 4 – 3 – 9
    • Week 10: 4 – 4 – 14
    • Week 11: 4 – 4 – 15
    • Week 12: 5 – 3 – 16
    • Week 13: 5 – 4 – 13
    • Week 14: 4 – 4 – 12
    • Week 15: 6 – 4 – 18*
    • Week 16: 5 – 3 – 20*
    • Week 17: 5 – 5 – 14
    • Week 18: 5 – 5 – 22*
    • Week 19: 5 – 5 – 12
    • Week 20: 3 – 5 – 8
    • Week 21: 4 – 2 – 26.2*
      • *I have dubbed these “Holy Shit” runs because those are the ones I look at and exclaim, “Holy shit!”  For some reason 16 miles doesn’t make me panic, but 18+ does.

Running for the ACLU

Hi guys!  If anyone’s still reading this (I know it’s just an exercise diary these days), I wanted to let you know that I’ve started a CrowdRise fundraiser for the American Civil Liberties Union.

Many marathons and other races are for charity and participants have fundraising minimums.  Since I’m essentially doing a fun run that isn’t charity-focused, I decided I’d still use it to try and raise some money for a cause I believe in.  Right now the ACLU has its hands full.  At the end of the day, their goal is to protect the rights provided to everyone by the constitution, but that sounds too fucking simple for all that they do:

  • Free press
  • Free speech
  • Religious liberty
  • Reproductive freedom
  • Voting rights
  • Racial justice
  • The list goes on and on…

I encourage everyone to learn more about the organization.  If they represent some things you care about, please consider donating $10 to my fundraiser.  Always welcome, never obligated.

Sunday Runday 6/11 and 6/18

SUMMARY

I was in Texas visiting my little sisters over the weekend of 6/11, so I just extended this blog post for 2 weeks since I didn’t get to it from TX.

  • Run
    • Week 7 Total = 16 miles
    • Week 8 Total = 17.4 miles
  • PT 4x
  • JUNE RESOLUTIONS: Go to sleep by 9pm on weeknights X
    • 1 night out of 10
  • Yoga – 60 minutes X

WORKOUTS

WEEK 7

  • Monday 6/5 – PT
  • Tuesday 6/6 – nothing
  • Wednesday 6/7 – 5 mi @ 12:04 min/mi – I actually cut this short because my feet and ankles started to experience a significant amount of pain – yay tendinitis.  PT. EVERY. DAY. FROM. NOW. ON.
  • Thursday 6/8 – PT + Abs – Finally getting back to my 30 Day Fitness app, but it had started over because I had to get a new phone, so I’m going with abs now.  Maybe I’ll add butt, too.  I was supposed to run today, but I’m resting my feet/tendons/inflammation.  Work smarter, not harder?
  • Friday 6/9 – nothing
  • Saturday 6/10 – nothing
  • Sunday 6/11 – 10.9 mi @ 13:11 min/mi – Umm, I really really really hate running in the heat and especially in the Texas sun.

WEEK 8

  • Monday 6/12 – nothing – Officially, nothing – but we did do a ~4 mile nature walk with my sisters, so that counts for a little bit of something.
  • Tuesday 6/13 – 2 mi @ 13:30 min/mi – My work had a volunteer day at the Esplanade (park along the Charles River).  We were weeding in 90 degree heat for a few hours and my plan was to run home 3.6 miles from there.  Well, after weeding out in the sun for a few hours, trying to run home in a cotton t-shirt with a backpack felt rather impossible, so I got on an air conditioned bus after 2 miles.
  • Wednesday 6/14 – PT + Abs + Hamstring Stretches – I’m only on Day 2 of an “Easy Abs” program, but lordy, 16 sit ups is really hard for me.
  • Thursday 6/15 – 5K @ 9:07 min/mi – My fastest pace since last July!
  • Friday 6/16 – nothing
  • Saturday 6/17 – nothing
  • Sunday 6/18 – 12 mi @ 12:40 min/mi – Well I at least improved on my last long run pace.  At this rate, I’ll finish my marathon just shy of 6 hours…

GOALS

  • I’m moving PT and Yoga to the top of the list.  Marathon ain’t happening if I’m hurt.
    • PT 4x
    • Yoga – 60 minutes
  • JUNE RESOLUTIONS: Go to sleep by 9pm on weeknights – I swear I’m trying.
  • Marathon training:
    • Week 7: 3 – 4 – 11

    • Week 9: 4 – 3 – 9
    • Week 10: 4 – 3 – 14
