Makeup Monday: NARS

From my latest Sephora haul, I’ve now tried NARS Orgasm Blush and NARS Creamy Concealer.

  • NARS Blush in Orgasm ($30) -|★★★★★| Beautiful, slightly shimmery pink.  Goes on easy, blends to a natural flush in seconds.  I see what all the hype is about, now.
  • NARS Creamy Concealer in Chantilly ($29) – |★★★★☆| Very thick, a little heavy and hard to blend….BUT, I think that’s because the color is a smidge too light for me (probably because it’s summer).  I do like it in conjunction with my color correcting green.  Look at this flawless skin!

MakeUp Monday: Sephora and (no) Self Control

Seriously no self control. I’m supposed to be saving money. For a wedding. And a honeymoon. Some very expensive shit is coming up the pipeline. And, what do I do? Spend $43 at Sephora because I got an email about a special.

But look at all the cool stuff I’m getting!

  1. SEPHORA Collection Mud Mask Mattifying AND Purifying (free sample) – They’re running a summer special of 5 free samples with every order, instead of the usual 3.
  2. NARS Blush in Orgasm (free sample) – The most famous product ever and I’ve never tried it.  Travesty!
  3. Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof Brow Pencil Easy Shape and Fill (free sample) – I think I like brow pencils over powder, but the Maybelline one I have now needs constant sharpening so I want to branch out.
  4. Tatcha Balanced Pore Perfecting Water Gel (free sample) – IDK, whatevs, it’s free.
  5. Bumble and Bumble Surf Foam Wash Shampoo (free sample) – Shampoo is expensive.  Bumble & Bumble is expensive.  I like getting expensive shit for free, although I might hate this.
  6. Cover FX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment (100 points) – I have like 4 primers, but NONE are anti-acne.  Obvs I needed this.
  7. Origins Ginzing Energy Boosting Moisturizer (100 points) – This, I actually need.  Currently I’ve been using tinted moisturizer and lubriderm on my face.  It will be happy to have something meant for it again.
  8. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($29) – Something I actually had to buy to get them to ship me all the free shit above.  I’ve been eyeing this ever since I bought the green color corrector because it will blend over that nicely.  Hopefully, the color is right.  If so, skinID really works!
  9. SEPHORA Collection Eye Pencil To Go ($6) – I needed exactly $6 to get me to $35, which gets me the next three products.  I also don’t have a purple eyeliner, so…
  10. Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask (free with 3FORVIB) – Free w/VIB membership and $35 purchase.  I love Fresh products, so this special is what prompted this entire purchase.
  11. Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment SPF15 (free with 3FORVIB)
  12. Fresh Sugar Face Polish (free with 3FORVIB)

Between this order and my Ipsy and Play! by Sephora, I’m going to have SO MUCH SHIT to review.  It makes me fucking giddy inside.  Ahhahaha.

Makeup Monday: March Ipsy

Since this ipsy subscription was a Christmas gift (AKA not something I’m spending my own money on) I was a little more cavalier with the questionnaire, which is resulting in some more interesting products.  Definitely not stuff I’d use every day, but stuff I’m excited to try!

  • Bag – For once, in a long time, the bag is actually cute!
  • eSalon Perfect Ending Leave In Conditioner ($15) – This smells really good and leaves my hair soft and not greasy. I think I like the cream formula better than the spray in one I got last month.
  • Pixi by Petra Blush Duo ($18) – A little too much gold, not enough rose.
  • NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Hot Pink ($7) – Holy shit, this is HOT PINK.  It’s really fucking pink. Like matte, glow-in-the-dark paint. It stays on your lips AND comes off on everything else. It is fun, though!image
  • Essence Make Me Brow ($3) – While the teeny tiny mascara applicator is cute, and much easier than the clear mascara I usually use, colored eye brow gel isn’t enough to replace filling in my eyebrows, so it’s kinda pointless.
  • Eyeshadow brush – This is the perfect shape and size. It’s small enough to highlight and shadow the crease, and picks up enough product to apply base color. I love it!

Makeup Monday: Ipsy is back! February

Ipsy is majorly missing out on the “gift” market.  Birchbox lets you send somebody a 3 month generic subscription.  In order for my mom to give me Ipsy for Christmas, she had to create an account on her email and answer the beauty profile pretending to be me.  It’s kind of awesome because now she gets all their annoying emails.

I got my first bag since I canceled my own subscription and s’alright.20160216_183551.jpg

  • Bag – Hideous design with an even hideous-er texture.
  • The Balm Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner in Scott B. Bordeaux ($17) – Beautiful dark brown with hints of maroon and purple.  Very difficult to wash off in the shower, so you know it lasts all day.  I think this is my new favorite eyeliner.  Dark enough, but with a distinct color, so it’s more exciting than brown or black.
  • treStique Blush Stick in Bora Bora Coral ($34) – Nice, creamy peach color.  Goes from crayon to powder in a smooth transition.  Very blendable.
  • Naked Cosmetics Mica Powder ($14) – Glitter?  What the hell is a 29 year old woman supposed to do with glitter?!  It seems like a nice glitter.  I guess I’ll save it for the multitude of bachelorette parties I have to go to?  After checking out their website, it looks like Naked Cosmetics sells the raw pigment for makeup and you can apply it with their primer type products, including clear nailpolish.  Interesting concept.

Top: Mica Powder; Middle: Blush Stick; Bottom: Eyeliner

  • My Amazing Hair Secrets Leave In Conditioner ($14) – Barely scented (which TBH was kinda disappointing cuz I love the smell of coconut) and the nozzle on the sample size leaves something to be desired.  But, it softened and conditioned my hair nicely without leaving it greasy.
  • Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat ($30) – This is almost completely clear, so I don’t understand what I use it for.  Base coat? Top coat? What makes it a gel?  It says it comes off with regular nail polish remover.  Forgive me, I’m very confused.  It seems like a nice strong base coat that dries super quickly.

I’ll be reviewing my first Play by Sephora next week.  Get excited.
